day two

woke up at 12:40 pm- one of the delightful things about summer that i won't be able to do for much longer...so i am cherishing them while i can.

got to see the time traveler's wife today....

i actually liked it- it wasn't as sappy as i thought it was going to be- it was more about moving on and just trying to live life, despite whatever you may want to hold back for. there was a quote at the very end of the movie when henry, the time traveler, told his wife "i don't want you to wait for me," and it was kind of interesting, because a person must really love another in order to let them go, and henry was really brave in letting his wife move on from him. this movie had an odd connection with a book i just so happened to finish today, the lovely bones.

i feel like in the whole novel, susie, the main character who is the victim of a murder, sort of hangs in the "in between" of life and death, and pretty much torments her family unintentionally because she does this. they keep thinking of her, causing her mom to be anguished with the pain, and her family to pretty much fall apart after her death. not to ruin it for my one blog reader (haha,) susie FINALLY goes to heaven after completing some unfinished business on earth, and this allows her family to finally be at peace with her death. susie, unlike henry, didn't really understand that whole concept of leaving her family be, because she so desperately wanted her murderer to be captured and to kiss the boy she loved, she didn't think of the pain that she was causing her family to experience through her selfish actions in post life. i just found it weird that both movie and book, which are both available in movie and book form, have kind of a weird common theme running through them. but the lovely bones movie looks intense, and i can't wait to see it!

sidenote: i cooked something today! it's called the guacamole salad, a recipe by ina garten, the "barefoot contessa." it was delicious, and i took pictures, which i will perhaps upload later...since i don't have a facebook, they'll be going right here..haha.

more later!

peace.
